IN HOUSE LAB

Our in-house laboratory enables us to provide you and your pet with quick, reliable results in hematology, clinical chemistry, electrolytes, urinalysis, fecal examinations and numerous other tests. This gives us the capability to perform pre-anesthetic screens on the morning of the anesthetic and helps us to identify any issues that may complicate the anesthetic or surgery. It also provides early detection of underlying disease and provides baseline laboratory values for your pet.

RADIOLOGY

We have both stationary table-to and portable X-ray machines. Radiology is still the standard diagnostic tool for most orthopedic and many soft-tissue conditions. We have access to referral centers that provide further diagnostic imaging techniques such as Ultrasound, CT scan and MRI.

IDEXX MACHINE

The IDEXX machine tests the levels of substances in the blood including: glucose, potassium, calcium, and other elements.  There are a total of 21 elements that are tested.  It also checks the number of platelets, white blood cells and red blood cells to give the doctor a better idea of what is going on inside the patient.  All the doctor has to do is put a drop of blood into the IDEXX and it does the rest.  It even prints out a receipt looking report that contains not only the animals blood levels, but includes a column of what a normal reading would be.  This report is species-specific.  If it is normal it simply reads normal next to that element.  Traditionally the doctor would have to put the blood under a microscope to determine the cell count.  Usually finding out this information would entail a long and involved process and a complete chemistry kit!

ECG/Cardiopet

We have in-house Elextrocardiogram capability and Cardiopet telemedicine equipment that gives us immediate access to Cariology specialists. These techniques are particularly valuable in diagnosing arrhythmias and electrical disorders of the heart.
